True Claycombe joined the Kyle House Group in September 2018, after working for a global health advocacy organization and for a member of Congress in the United States House of Representatives.
Prior to joining KHG, True worked as the Associate Director of Policy for Friends of the Global Fight, an advocacy organization working on behalf of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. At Friends, True specialized in designing and implementing advocacy and lobbying efforts to increase funding and support for the Global Fund as well as U.S. global health programs. True developed and managed relationships with key staff and government officials within Congress and the Executive Branch agencies and departments, including the National Security Council, Department of State, and USAID. She also assisted in advising the Global Fund Secretariat on major policy issues, political shifts, and legislative initiatives for timely and effective Global Fund engagement. Additionally, True organized coalitions within the global health community to develop concerted direct lobbying and advocacy efforts to influence the U.S. government on behalf of the Global Fund.
Prior to joining Friends, True graduated from the School of International Service at American University with an M.A. in international development. Her studies focused on global health policy and community development, including internships at Save the Children, the Clearwater Initiative, and the Reproductive and Child Health Alliance in Cambodia.
Before graduate school, True began her career on Capitol Hill in 2011 where she spent more than two years as a legislative assistant to Rep. David McKinley (R-WV). She handled a legislative portfolio of healthcare, foreign affairs, education, human rights, tax and budget, and postal reform. As a member of the HIV/AIDS caucus, Congressman McKinley depended on True to monitor global health issues in addition to her assistance on his domestic health portfolio. True continues to hold and maintain robust relationships with Members and staff on both sides of the aisle.
True is from Nashville, Tennessee. True holds a master’s degree in International Development from American University and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Georgia. She currently lives in Washington, D.C. where she enjoys volunteering, cooking, reading, traveling and being outdoors.
