Job Title: Director of Communications

Location: This position requires residence in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The Director of Communications will be fully remote on a daily basis. Candidates must be local and available for in-person meetings and events.

Compensation: The salary range for this role is $125,000 to $175,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Competitive benefits are provided, including: 401(k) plan, comprehensive health benefits, and generous paid time off and sick leave policies.

Position Overview

The Kyle House Group is a growing firm, with a diverse and high-energy team that creates an entrepreneurial and exciting work atmosphere. KHG is seeking a Director of Communications to join its team to support strategic communications and advocacy campaigns for a diverse portfolio of clients.

Position Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic communications plans aligned with firm and client policy and advocacy objectives

  • Draft and edit press releases, op-eds, talking points, social media and blog posts

  • Manage Kyle House Group and Consensus for Development Reform websites

  • Manage media outreach, including pitching and relationship-building with reporters

  • Monitor congressional and executive branch press and communications, and provide real-time messaging recommendations

  • Develop and execute communications and media plans in support of KHG organized events

  • Support issue advocacy campaigns, including coalition and third-party engagement

  • Work closely with government relations colleagues to ensure message alignment with policy strategy

  • Develop messaging documents and briefing materials for clients and partners

  • Identify earned media opportunities and assist clients in positioning themselves as thought leaders on priority issues.

Candidate Requirements

  1. Based in the Washington, D.C. metro area

  2. 4-7 years of experience in political communications, preferably as a Press Secretary, Deputy Press Secretary, or Communications Director on Capitol Hill

  3. Demonstrated experience working with national, political, and/or trade media

  4. Exceptional writing and editing skills (writing samples required)

  5. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, client-service environment

  6. Excellent communications, social, and interpersonal skills
